About Me
Born and raised in Anchorage Alaska (Dena'ina Ełnena), Rebecca Mahar is a multi-hyphenate, interdisciplinary, award-winning, artist, educator, and scholar working primarily in theatre. Which is just a fancy way of saying she wears far too many hats at any given time! Her journey has been wide-ranging and varied, resulting in a broad set of specialist skills, and an insatiable thirst for learning. She drags herself up mountains so she can run down them, enjoys running distances that inspire people to joke they "don't even like to drive that far!", and believes in fighting for alternate metrical interpretations of Shakespeare's verse (it's all in the text). Her favorite weapon is the smallsword, and she intends to write more plays for it.
This photo was taken while telling the photographer
(J. Brown) about the 2017 Cyrano's Theatre Company production of Private Lives, and perfectly captures how I feel about that show :D
